The last few months have been spent reevaluating where I will spend my energy. Instead of resolutions or goals my focus this year is more about experiences.
In focusing on experiences I realized I wanted to spend my time on what I consider the important things For me, that is writing, both fiction and non-fiction. Additionally, I want to support people as they follow their dreams, especially other authors.
The main focus of this newsletter will be on history and the research involved. There may be times when I take a turn and talk about the use of social media for authors.
January I spent time writing and researching Civil War veterans and/or their wives who are buried in the local cemetery. I will post links to that writing at the end.
The interesting part of research is finding the units of the soldiers, what action they may have been involved in, and their lives after the conflict. For their wives, it becomes more difficult. During that time in our history, little was written about women. Many times you use the men and society events to try to understand who they were and how they lived.
So, stay tuned for more history and the stories of the people I find in the archives. If you haven’t already subscribed, please consider doing so. Once a month or so it will arrive and it’s still free. (For now)
